DON'T Buy This Hair Dye!

It's very rare that I hate a product enough to vehemently rant about my shitty experiences online, but this is one of those exceptional cases.

Since I'm using vegan, cruelty-free, & now natural beauty products, I'm on the hunt for my forever hair dye. I saw this brand called Herbatint at Whole Foods which looked promising with it's list of fancy botanical ingredients & decided to purchase it for $14 in the shade 2N Brown.

When it came time to use the product, I was less-than-thrilled with the lack of materials.

Other than a pair of flimsy, wrist-length gloves, all that was included was the color gel, the developer, & a conditioner. You might be wondering what the problem was. There was NO bottle to apply it into my hair! I had to pour it into a bowl, mix it, scoop it into my insufficiently gloved hands, & attempt to apply it into my hair evenly, all the while dripping it all over my sink, counter, & floor (which left stains I'm finding difficult to remove).

Most dye brands include an extra bottle that makes application easy or the developer or gel bottle has the applicator top. The gloves should extend past my wrists. In any case, here is a before shot:

I deal with a lot of genetic white hair - trust me, the camera doesn't pick up most of it. After applying it, I wrapped up my hair in a bun with a strong hold hair tie & wrapped my hair in sexy plastic wrap:

Holla.

I kept it like this for about 45 minutes, then rinsed it out thoroughly & applied the conditioner. Here's the result:

Not too bad, right? Well, while it did what it was supposed to do in terms of coloring the hair, it seemed to do more than what I asked of it:

Imagine this all over my scalp, neck, & forehead. The formula was too runny & the application was extremely messy. I would not recommend this product to anyone nor would I purchase it again.
