Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary

Ever since I went vegan, one of my biggest dreams was to go to an animal sanctuary & actually connect with the animals I was no longer eating. Nearly 6 years went by, but last month, I finally got a chance to visit one. Harvest Home Sanctuary is located in Stockton, CA (about an hour without traffic from the Bay Area), pretty much in the middle of nowhere. They've been around for about 10 years & I was surprised that I had never heard of it. In case you haven't either, here's a brief PSA about it.

HHAS rescues a variety of animals, including chickens, turkeys, goats, pigs, cats, dogs, birds, & rabbits. The only animals they don't have are large animals like horses & cows because they don't have the pasture acreage to support these animals.

They hold tours on a monthly basis (typically Saturdays), though they also take by-appointment private tours on other days of the week. They also hold monthly vegan food workshops & tastings & larger events such as Toast To The Turkeys in November.

I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer with this incredible organization & I really wanted to share them with you! They are definitely in need of volunteers & donations (they subsist entirely on the generosity of others) so if you can give any time, money, or food for the animals, check their website to see how you can help!
